One eBay listing back in March, 2006 was the reason why Simply-TOFU was created. I bought a Pair of Yamashita's Night earring during my trip to Hong Kong; however, the "Night" does not show up the right way when wore on the right ear, so I decided to list it on eBay. My email was loaded of questions for the earring within 24 hours. After knowing that I only had one, many people asked me to buy it for them. Some people even started asking if I had other Yamashita jewellery. After telling the person that help me buy the Night earring (now become one of my suppliers, who also has another FT job in HK), he suggested me to sell on the internet while looking for a job after graduation.
I started selling a few Yamashita Night earrings on eBay and realized that my mark-up does not even cover all those eBay and PayPal fees. This is when my boyfriend told me to start my own e-commerce shop to reduce the eBay fees. The name "Simply-TOFU" was thought up solely because I was madly in love with the Hannari TOFU at that time. Thinking that this store would only be short-lived (2 months maybe?), I recklessly registered for the domain and bought the shopping cart service. After a lot of struggle with PHP, I finally created the Simply-TOFU site with a lot of help from my boyfriend (who created the banner for me).
Simply-TOFU site officially opened on July 18, 2006. Many thanks to the nice people on eBay who helped me advertise on various forums and LJ, Simply-TOFU received more than 20 orders on the first day of business! That created quite a bit of chaos for a new seller like me; however, thanks to all of the understanding and patient customers, it turned out fine!
As of August 17, 2007, Simply-TOFU was re-opened after one month of rest and ready to be back in business. Although I'm still working a FT job during the day and busy packing every night, I'm ready to bring in new products anytime and dig out more cute Japanese products and deliver to the rest of the world.
All JE accessories you find here are affordable replica (similar) items which the Johnny's boys have worn in shows and magazines. Name brand items will not be featured due to copyright problems. Other products are chosen according to my preference. I love all these products on my site and hopfully you will as well!
